The driving force and backbone of Solon Z and the Sapphires is it’s horn section! Anchored by the talented Danny Fratina, who is a composer, arranger, transcriber, trumpet player, and clinician of the orchestra. He writes and arranges music for Solon Z and the Sapphires, and bands all around the world. He earned his degree in Jazz Composition from the Berklee College of Music in 2007 and has been working with orchestras full time ever since, including commissions for dozens of bands, films, major universities, and even the United Nations in Boston. He has been a finalist in the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards three times. He currently resides in Boston, MA, where he works full time as a composer, arranger, transcriptionist, conductor, and trumpet player. The rest of the horn section is made up of seasoned AND rising stars of the music world, and consist of 3 lineups for a total of 39 musicians at your service. Many of the horn players have backed up such legends as Aretha Franklin, Solomon Burke, James Brown, and performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio, as well as other grand stages of entertainment.
